Understanding the molecular mechanisms of neuropsychiatric symptoms in AD Lead Investigator: Thomas Wingo Institution : Emory University E-Mail : thomas.wingo@emory.edu Proposal ID : 1457 Proposal Description: The overarching goal of the project is to identify key molecular drivers of neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) in AD and ADRD. The reason we are requesting data from NACC is to identify individuals who have neuropsychiatric assessments (primarily from the NPI but also from the diagnosis) when they are diagnosed as either having MCI or dementia. The goal of our initial exploratory analysis is to identify which dementing syndromes have the highest rates of NPS, determine the differences in NPS in people who progress from AD to MCI, and to understand how NPS is reported in early versus late in the course of dementia. These exploratory analyses will help us identify which samples would be most fruitful to consider for genetic analysis. Thus, we would like to also know whether the individuals have genomic data (e.g., GWAS, exome sequencing, or whole genome sequencing).
